Hello all,

How are you all doing?

I’m doing good, expect a lot on my plate as my family and I are moving to Canada. Did you know three of Canada’s cities top the list of most livable cities? Speaking of cities, we recently had a chat on Achieving SDG11 targets for safe and sustainable cities, thanks to Safety/Red Dot Foundation. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. To see the Storified Twitter chat, click here.

To give you a background, Safecity (registered under Red Dot Foundation) is a platform, founded in 2012, that crowdsources personal stories of sexual harassment and abuse in public spaces. This data which maybe anonymous, gets aggregated as hot spots on a map indicating trends at a local level. The idea is to make this data useful for individuals, local communities and local administration to identify factors that causes behavior that leads to violence and work on strategies for solutions.

How’s your city like? :)
