PM Modi On E-Drive In Varanasi. First E-Rickshaw, Then E-Boat

After launching e-boats and e-rickshaws in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a ride in both. The Prime Minister flew into Varanasi after launching a scheme in Ballia under which free LPG connections will be given to five crore poor women. After Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, forest fire now rages in Jammu and Kashmir

After Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, incidents of forest fires were reported from Bathuni and Gambhir areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Sunday. The fire has been raging in the forests of Uttarakhand for several days, while the fire was reported from 12 new place in forests of Shimla today. Fire has engulfed 2270 hectare forest area in Uttarakhand and 50 hectare in Himachal Pradesh. Read more

Ban on diesel-run taxis comes into force, officials crack down on violators

The ban on plying of 27,000 diesel-run taxis in Delhi came into force on Sunday, with the authorities launching a crackdown against violators, impounding errant vehicles. The impact of shortage of taxis will be felt tomorrow, the first working day after the Supreme Court yesterday refused to extend the deadline for converting diesel-run taxis into CNG-mode. Read more

Water Emergency In Hyderabad, The First In 30 Years

There is a water emergency in Hyderabad, with four major reservoirs that supply drinking water to the capital city bone dry for the first time in 30 years, says Telangana’s minister for municipal administration KT Rama Rao. Amid a deadly heat wave and the state’s third successive drought, the shortage is so severe that people in many areas of Hyderabad are now getting water in their homes only on alternate days. The situation is far worse in the villages of Telangana, where drinking water has to be fetched from long distances. Read more
